Immigration Stuff

Who would have thought just how difficult it is for an American to immigrate to Canada. We have just began our immigration journey , and the end seems so far away.

Dave's been up here for a year now, and we can't bare the thought of him having to go back - so we started looking into it all, and I honestly wish we looked into it sooner! There is so much to do. For starters, they want ALL your information on where you have lived, gone to school, worked, etc for every month of your life accounted for. If you didn't work during a small period of time - they want the details. They want the details of your dorm room #, they want the details of the name of your boss that you had 14 years ago, they want the details of it all. God forbid if you forget where you have worked, since the IRS only keeps your info for so long, then you need to pay to get it from their archives. Then, they want your FBI record clearance - which takes about 14 weeks, they want details of your parents, siblings, step siblings, etc. Plus a medical by an approved medical doctor, and all the proof in the world of your relationship to prove there is a valid, genuine relationship. And you would think a few pictures, our daughters birth certificate, and a couple of things would suffice? Nope. We are digging out a good 10 pounds at least, of evidence. About 50 emails, about 20 pages of random Instant Messages, about 10 phone bills from when we lived apart, about 100 pictures, plane ticket stubs, hockey game stubs, Disney tickets, Sea World tickets, written declaration from friends and family, different pieces of mail from different months showing we live at the same address, an essay almost on your relationship and how it developed, plus much, much more. And of course, $$$$$$$.

So far, we have filled out most of the applications - we have sent off the FBI record clearance request and now just waiting on that , so we can make Dave's medical appointment and get the written declarations from family and friends, so we can submit our application and begin the long waiting game to hear if we got approved or not.
I'll keep ya all posted!

2011 is coming...

So for years I have wanted to blog. But I seriously thought I would never have the time, or keep up with it. So, when is a good time to strive to continue doing something? The New Year :) So, here we go... this, and going back on Weight Watchers.
